Memory, retained for more than thirty years, is both blurry and clear. The first person from the left on the front is Mariam.
从商场回到家，我让女儿上网搜索一下，看看奇迹是否会发生。一分种后，罗梦安果然从天而降。女儿精确地找到了她的联系方式。尽管30年沧海桑田，但从网上的照片看，她美丽和风采依然。
Arriving home from the shop, I asked my daughter to search for Mariam on the internet. I wondered whether a miracle would take place. One minute later, Mariam came into view. My daughter found her contact information accurately. She appeared to be beautiful and charming still.
于是我写了一封信给她，标题是：一封来自学生的信。我能想像她收到信时的反应。正如她后来在文章中所写到的那样。她喜出望外，那扇似乎永远关闭的门，又重新开启。
Thus I wrote an email letter to her, of which the title was a Letter from Your Students. I could imagine how she would react to my letter when she received it. Like what she wrote in her article afterwards, she was so surprised that she reopened the door which seemed closed forever.
非常巧的是，我女儿后来去了她所在的城市求学；非常巧的是，她也是我女儿所学专业的前辈。在离开我们之后，她上了研究生课程，后来成为美国电视界的著名人物，曾经四次获得艾美奖。
Coincidentally, my daughter was admitted into the university in her city in USA, where she was the predecessor. Mariam furthered her study as a graduate student after she left us. Afterwards, she became a celebrity, who had obtained Emmy Award for four times.
我们的重逢是在纽约格林威治村一个叫做Jade的酒店。格林威治是全球文青向往的圣地，Jade是我女儿的英文名。一切都那么像命中注定的安排。
Our reunion took place in a hotel called Jade in Greenwich Village in New York. Greenwich village was a holyland resort longed for by the young artists all over the world, and Jade was the English name of my daughter as well. Everything seemed to be destined.
30年后的重逢。虽然容颜已改，但风采依旧。
Our reunion took place after our separation for thirty years. Mariam still looked elegant and graceful though her facial appearance changed with age.
我很相信缘分，同时，作为一个以创意、策划为生的人，我又特别相信发愿。只要基于人性的逻辑，一切期待都会如愿发生。所谓念念不忘，必有回响。
I believed in Karmic predestined relationship. Meanwhile as a person making a living on creativity and planning, I believed in resolution in particular, through which I could express my desire for the result which I had expected. Based on the logic of human nature, all the expectations would be satisfied. There will be resonance when you bear them in mind.
去年10月，她应邀回到中国，20多位同学从全国各地甚至还有一位同学从澳洲过来，我们聚集在广州，体验一场非常特别的情感记忆。
In October, last year Mariam was invited to China. More than twenty students got together in Guangzhou. One student came back from Australia. In the reunion in Guangzhou, we experienced our special emotional recollections.
我们在一起各种合照。年级照，班级照，玩得不亦乐乎。
We took photos together --- students of a grade, students of a class. We really enjoyed ourselves.
我们一起回忆当年的细节。一起手拉手围着圈唱歌。虽芳华不在，但岁月真好。
We recalled the specific and sweet details of the days when Mariam taught us in Wuhan. We formed a circle hand in hand, singing the songs that we learnt from her. That was a wonderful occasion though we were not as young as we had been in 1980s.
罗梦安特意做了一个访问，了解她青春时代的中国之行给中国学生带来了什么？我特别理解这样一个安排。每个人在生命的某一个阶段，特别需要确认自己生命的价值和意义。她的那个当年的初心，到底价值在哪里？
Mariam arranged for a special interview, in which she got to know what she had brought about upon the students as a young teacher at that time. I understood her arrangement indeed. In a certain period, we particularly need to assure the value and meaning of our lives. Where did Mariam’s value lie as for her initial motivation?
