have you consider all the options for the EVO X?
Access Port
AEM EMS
Apex-i Power FC
Apex-i S-AFC / S-AFC II
Autronics
ECU +
EcuFlash
EcuTek
Greddy E-Manage
MAFTpro
Turbo XS UTEC
Vishnu XEDE
WORKS Brain Flash
i think..thats all the companies that tunes the EVO X on our side of the pacific ocean..
IMHO, Cobb is one of the first company that came out with the tune when EVO X hit the market, its a decent choice, and also very realiable, and a good piggy back, as in you can reinstall and uninstall as much times as you want..and it takes liek 5 min to do so, your best bet is to ask someone locally who owns the Accessport that they are willin to let you try it on your car, like a said it takes 5 min to uninstall from another EVO on to yours... so.. ya...
(dont quote me on this, but from earlier reports, Cobb at least at first, werent the most efficient...now i heard they are on their third update of their tune already... which stage are you lookin @?)
i am sure Cobb tuning lets you tune more than one EVO, its just you can only tune one EVO at any given time, becaus eyou have to have it plugged in to work, so lets say you own 2 EVOs in your house and only brought one, only one of them can have the tune at anytime, but not both at the same time, but I am 100% certain you can switch between EVOs, as i have seen it done within my own eyes...

Just bought my evo x, and been looking into these stuff since. so far i have been mainly reading from evoxforums which seems a good place to get most info about an evo x out of it.
i have checked cobb, vishnu and open ecu(with ecuflash just installed on my pc, just wanted to see what the software looks like) so far. so far cobb definitely seems the best option for me given i am still a noob in terms of tuning cars, and AP is one of the easiest to use (install/uninstall wise)
you are correct about AP being used on multiple cars but cant have them tunned at the same time. its a married/unmarried thing[s:205]. well, it would be nice if i could find someone locally who owns one and is willing to let me try it out[s:201]
the market of this after all is still relatively too small, a little device like this will probably take a skilled computer hacker 5min to crack seeing all those iphone, ipad, game consoles being almost cracked the same day they were released.
i am also thinking about getting a front lip and swap my headlights, i may do those before ECU flash. and maybe some other small interior change, i hate the poor quality shifter boot and cheap hand break grip the most.

first cobb ap is not an piggyback, its a reflash, big different.
second, skip the evoxforum and go evolutionm, way more useful info there. search is the key
for cobb, its good for ppl who want install it and forget it, its super easy to install and i had it in my STI and my buddy's evox/GTR. NOTICEABLE gains, reasonable priced. but it wont give you MAX gains/performance or smoothness whatever you call it due to it only comes with ots(off the shelf) maps, sure you can get ur car pro-tunned by cobb pro tunner, but it will cost you a lot of money and theres no real evo tunner in BC(dont know if pat@rocketrally can tune evos now but he is even more pricy), and the last thing, at least for me, it lacks of user adjustablity=no fun at all.
for vishnu(aka shiv who also tunes bmw, lambo), he tuned the most impressive evo9 in US and confirmed by Tsuchiya. and his n54(135/335/535 engine) tune is just the best in the whole world(autotunning ftw), but i dont know anything about his tunes for evo10, but he does have some skills.
for openecu, samething, you gotta find someone who can roadtune/dynotune it for you which lacks in BC. and it will get ur warranty voided, it overwrites the ecu and you cant go back to stock(2 yrs ago info for this, not sure if it changed now).
tunning is not just about crack in to computer, there are so many variable changes and it needs a lot of exp to get it flawless. a proper pro/custom tune will get you exactly what you want, ie: most power out of the mods/engine, driveablity, powerband and much much more.
the best way to tune ur jdm is get an standalone ecu and call it a day, if you want fully control your car.
if you are a guy likes install and leave it then just get cobb, for the money you will be happy for sure.
hope this help.

oh and if your evo10 is DCT tranny, dont even bother to get more power, the tranny only holds up to 347ft/lb. yeah it sucks.,

回 8楼(bluelude) 的帖子thanks, especially for the info about bc is lacking of evo tuners, i probably wont even bother to look for a custom tune anyways. i will check out evolutionm tomorrow.

dont think this holds true any more or was it ever true? openecu is probably the cheapest way to flash an ecu, and it can flash anything you tell it to flash as far as i know, so going back to stock is just a matter of backing up your default ecu and flash it back when you taking it back to dealer, etc., at least this is what i gathered based my readings in the last couple days anyways...
aside from getting a cobb ap, i am also attempted to go with openecu given its cheap price. although i am not entirely sure if i must have this connector to hook up my evo to a laptop? almost 200 bucks for a connector vs a 600USD AP, i dunno anymore, whats better? i think i will eventually go with AP since like most of you said already its plug and forget, which kinda suites my needs for now at best, not willing to go hardcore yet (not enough knowledge anyways...)
btw, i am driving a 2010 evo x gsr, couldn't afford MR...

顺便问一下,大家觉得这个splitter怎么样?不是为了别的,就是为了好看,超喜欢车前面加这个[s:205]
http://www.rexpeed.net/new2007/product_detail.php?serial=177

no tunner= DO NOT go openecu, after you get it , who gonna tune it for you?
the tactrix cable is only worth $50 max, its the software/technology that make it cost $200, well worth it imo. you cant just focus on whats the material cost man...
yeah if you just want PNP and leave it , go with cobb, they are so cheap. but for max result, get a turbo back exhaust with it.

回 16楼(bluelude) 的帖子well thats true, its the software. and ppl keep saying its open sourced... lol, where's the source code [s:181] i am an IT guy, when it comes to software i know what i am talking about. ecuflash is free, but not open sourced as far i can tell. also evoscan costs 25USD maybe? i am just not used to the idea of paying for software... lol its just a bunch of 0s and 1s..., anyways, i think i will get the AP first like almost everyone suggested.
i am still breaking in my car, reaching 700KM now. it grinds in 2nd and 3rd like most evo owners notice(did my research on this), hopefully with longer mileage and the first fluid change will help...
