I'm upgrading from first gen Dyson 360 and even used a few of the earlier Roomba. I didn't have high expectation that the Ecovac would perform better but in almost every way it does -- with the exception of suction. The Dyson is impossible to beat still after almost 10 years.
Our place is a single floor 1200 sq/ft all laminate flooring. Unlike older robo vacs I only have to move the dining chairs because of the legs. Other than that the T8 pretty much navigates and cleans the whole house properly - in about 50min which usually only use about 40% power and the clean is actually impressive. So far it hasn't gotten stuck or not able to find it's way home. I actually have the dock tucked under my office desk besides my office chair and it hasn't been a problem. So unlike my previous experiences I don't have to babysit this, I can set it to clean and actually go about my day.
If I have to write some cons:
- It doesn't announce that the water container is empty or near empty
- The mop cloth takes a few min to properly soak up so the initial clean might not be thorough enough
- The empty bin is actually small - if there's no emptying dock this would be a huge problem
- The overall system is huge - comparing with my Dyson it's taking up double the size in height, depth and width.
- The app needs the ability to save custom cleaning so we can quickly re-trigger those. I clean the kitchen almost every night after cooking and would be good to automate this some way.
